The Dunwich Horror Blu-ray presents one of the most enduring and atmospheric cinematic adaptations of H.P. Lovecraft, produced by Roger Corman and American International Pictures at the height of their counterculture horror era. Starring Dean Stockwell as the unsettling Wilbur Whateley, the film follows a descent into occult obsession as a stolen Necronomicon, a doomed young woman, and an unspeakable presence hidden in a locked attic converge in the cursed town of Dunwich.

Sandra Dee delivers her final theatrical performance as Nancy Wagner, a graduate student drawn under Whateley’s malign influence and into a ritual meant to summon the Old Ones. Directed by Daniel Haller, celebrated art director of numerous Corman classics, the film blends psychedelic imagery, cosmic dread, and late-1960s paranoia into a uniquely haunting vision of Lovecraftian horror. The screenplay marks the first writing credit for Curtis Hanson, who would later direct L.A. Confidential.

Restored by Arrow Films from the original 35mm camera negative, this Blu-ray edition offers the definitive home presentation of a late-night TV staple and cult favorite, featuring extensive new interviews and commentary exploring the film’s legacy, its place in Lovecraft cinema, and the eerie power of Les Baxter’s score.
