The Scarface Mob Blu-ray presents the hard-edged crime drama that laid the foundation for one of television’s most iconic series, The Untouchables. Originally conceived as a two-part TV pilot, this 1959 feature adapts real-life lawman Eliot Ness’s own account of his relentless pursuit of Al Capone during the height of Prohibition-era Chicago.

Set in 1929, the film chronicles the tightening grip of Capone’s bootlegging empire as corrupt officials look the other way and violence becomes routine. Federal investigator Eliot Ness assembles a hand-picked team of agents he believes are immune to bribery, launching a calculated assault on Capone’s illegal distilleries. When Capone learns his operation is under threat, the conflict escalates into open warfare, testing Ness’s resolve and the limits of justice in a city ruled by fear.

Directed with ruthless efficiency by Phil Karlson, The Scarface Mob is driven by a commanding performance from Robert Stack as the upright and obsessive Ness, paired with a ferocious turn by Neville Brand as an unhinged, volatile Al Capone. Karlson’s stark visual style and blunt narrative approach strip away glamour in favor of tension and moral urgency, positioning the film as a key transitional work between classic film noir and modern crime drama.

This limited edition Blu-ray from Arrow Video marks the film’s first appearance on the format, presenting it in high definition alongside a wealth of contextual extras that explore both the film itself and its enduring legacy within American crime cinema.
