Perpetrator Blu-ray delivers Jennifer Reeder’s strikingly original fusion of feminist horror, coming-of-age drama, and supernatural revenge. Set against the raw anxieties of adolescence, the film reframes genre conventions through themes of bodily autonomy, female rage, and inherited power, anchored by a fearless lead performance from Kiah McKirnan.

On the eve of her eighteenth birthday, the volatile and rebellious Jonny is sent to live with her estranged Aunt Hildie after a violent incident at school. As Jonny settles into her new surroundings, she begins to undergo a mysterious transformation tied to a family ritual known as the Forevering. With heightened senses, a growing thirst for blood, and an emerging confidence in her own ferocity, Jonny becomes obsessed with uncovering the truth behind a string of disappearances haunting the local community.

As the lines between predator and protector blur, Perpetrator escalates into a bold supernatural hunt, confronting the systemic dangers faced by young women while reclaiming the horror genre as a space of empowerment rather than victimhood. Shot in vivid, Bava-esque colours by Sevdije Kastrati, the film pairs its dreamlike visual language with a razor-sharp social edge.

Written and directed by Jennifer Reeder, the film also features standout supporting performances from Alicia Silverstone, Melanie Liburd, and Christopher Lowell. This limited edition Blu-ray from Arrow Video presents Perpetrator in high definition with an extensive slate of special features that explore the film’s themes, production, and Reeder’s broader body of work.
