Miranda Blu-ray presents Tinto Brass’s 1985 Italian comedy starring Serena Grandi as a widowed innkeeper in postwar Northern Italy. Loosely inspired by Carlo Goldoni’s La Locandiera, the film is a warm, playful and sensual portrait of a woman weighing love, comfort and freedom on her own terms.
 
In the Po Valley after World War II, Miranda keeps her modest inn running while waiting for news of the husband who never returned from the front. As time passes, she begins to question whether she is waiting for someone who may be gone forever.
 
Surrounded by three very different suitors — a devoted farmhand, a wealthy older admirer and a charming American — Miranda considers what kind of future she wants and who, if anyone, deserves a place in it. Light, earthy and mischievous, Miranda shows Tinto Brass in a brighter comic mode, built around Serena Grandi’s charismatic lead performance.
