The Films of Hisayasu Sato Volume 2 Blu-ray continues Pink Line’s essential exploration of one of Japanese pink cinema’s most transgressive and introspective auteurs. Spanning the early 1990s, this collection captures Sato at a crucial point in his evolution, refining his obsessions with voyeurism, melancholy, violence, and the fragile boundaries between intimacy and cruelty. Presented in new director-approved restorations from the original 35mm camera negatives, these films represent some of his most celebrated and controversial work.

In An Aria on Gazes (aka The Bedroom), Sato crafts one of his most lyrical and formally daring films, set within an exclusive Tokyo club where clients anonymously indulge in forbidden fantasies. As reality and imagination collapse into one another, tenderness and brutality coexist in unsettling harmony, anchored by a powerful performance from Kiyomi Itô and a chilling appearance by real-life cannibal Issei Sagawa. Love – Zero = Infinity shifts toward an equally disturbing yet strangely romantic register, following two isolated outsiders whose bond is forged through surveillance, obsession, and escalating violence. Together, these films form a deeply fatalistic meditation on desire, connection, and self-destruction.

This special limited edition Blu-ray set includes a spot gloss hard slipcase and slipcover designed by Luke Insect, a 40-page perfect-bound book, and is strictly limited to 4,000 units.
