The Films of Hisayasu Sato Volume 1 Blu-ray launches Pink Line’s definitive exploration of one of Japan’s most provocative and singular voices in pink cinema. Emerging during the explosive rise of Pinku Eiga, Hisayasu Sato forged a body of work that fused eroticism with horror, thriller mechanics, and an abrasive punk sensibility that pushed the genre far beyond its commercial roots. This debut volume gathers three of his earliest and most audacious features, each newly restored in 2K from their original 35mm camera negatives under Satô’s direct supervision and presented with newly translated English subtitles.

Lustmord (aka Pleasure Kill) introduces Sato’s recurring fixation on the convergence of sex, pain, and mortality, following a socially isolated teenager whose sadistic experiments spiral into nightmarish violence. Re-Wind (aka Celluloid Nightmare) channels the voyeuristic dread of Michael Powell’s Peeping Tom, plunging into Tokyo’s underground video culture through a mystery involving a found snuff tape and a descent into obsession. Love Letter in the Sand (aka Pervert Ward: Torturing the White Uniform) completes the set with a rain-soaked, neon-noir erotic thriller, where amnesia, repression, and desire collide in a bleak web of trauma and brutality.

This special limited edition Blu-ray set includes a spot gloss hard slipcase and slipcover designed by Luke Insect, a 40-page perfect-bound book, and is strictly limited to 4,000 units.
