Descendant of the Sun arrives in a limited edition Blu-ray featuring a spot gloss slipcase designed by Sean Longmore, a 40-page perfect bound book, and is strictly limited to 5,000 units. A future standard edition may follow, though it is not guaranteed.
 
Born from a glowing rock and raised by a humble carpenter, Shek Sang grows up aware of his extraordinary powers. After defending a group of labourers from violent soldiers, he finds himself hunted and forced into the Princess’s compound, where he disguises himself as a houseboy and parrot trainer. Meanwhile, the Prince Regent—determined to build an “Intelligence Nation” by eliminating any child he deems unworthy—plots to murder his niece, the Princess, as part of his twisted rise to power.
 
As Shek Sang struggles to hide his identity, confronts an equally powerful Evil Baby created to destroy him, and navigates the Princess’s growing affection for his alter ego, an epic reckoning looms.
 
A wildly imaginative blend of Chinese folklore, Hercules and Superman mythmaking, Wuxia fantasy, elaborate stuntwork, and Shaw Brothers spectacle, Descendant of the Sun stars Derek Yee, Cherie Chung, and Tien-Hsiang Lung. Directed by Chor Yuen, it features photography by Lam Wah-Chiu and choreographed action from Tang Chia and Yuen Wah. Vinegar Syndrome presents this underseen fantasy adventure newly scanned in 2K from its original camera negative with its original film-sourced soundtrack.
