Black Mask Blu-ray presents Jet Li in one of his most entertaining and unconventional action roles, blending Hong Kong superhero cinema, brutal martial arts choreography, and comic-book excess into a cult favorite of the 1990s. Produced by Tsui Hark and inspired by classic masked vigilante mythology, the film reimagines the kung fu hero as a near-invincible urban avenger shaped by trauma and violence.

Tsui Chik appears to live a quiet life as a mild-mannered librarian, but his calm exterior hides a dark past. Once part of the government’s secretive 701 Squad, Tsui was subjected to experimental procedures that destroyed his ability to feel pain. When former squad members resurface under the command of their ruthless ex-leader Hung Kuk, launching a violent crime spree, Tsui is forced to confront his origins. Donning a black mask and embracing his altered nature, he becomes a one-man weapon in a battle against his former brothers-in-arms.

Heavily influenced by Bruce Lee’s portrayal of Kato in The Green Hornet, and featuring action choreography by Yuen Woo-ping, Black Mask delivers relentless fight scenes, comic-book stylization, and peak-era Jet Li physicality. This Eureka Classics limited edition presents the film in its fully uncut Hong Kong version alongside multiple alternate cuts, making it the most complete home video release to date.
