Beethoven Blu-ray Special Edition brings the beloved family comedy roaring back in a newly remastered presentation that celebrates one of the most iconic movie dogs of the 1990s. Produced by Ivan Reitman and written by John Hughes and Amy Holden Jones, the film blends slapstick chaos with genuine heart in a way that made it a household favourite for an entire generation.

After narrowly escaping a group of dog-nappers, an adorable St. Bernard puppy wanders into the lives of the Newton family and quickly grows into Beethoven — a 185-pound force of fur, slobber, and destruction. While the kids and mom instantly adore him, tightly wound dad George remains unconvinced, viewing Beethoven as nothing more than a walking catastrophe. When a sinister veterinarian targets Beethoven for a cruel experiment, George must finally step up and prove that family loyalty includes four-legged members too.

Anchored by Charles Grodin’s perfectly exasperated performance, Beethoven thrives on comic escalation, physical gags, and its unapologetically warm-hearted message. Director Brian Levant keeps the pace breezy and accessible, while the stacked supporting cast — including Bonnie Hunt, Oliver Platt, Stanley Tucci, David Duchovny, and Patricia Heaton — adds depth and personality throughout. Equal parts family comedy and shaggy-dog adventure, Beethoven remains one of the most enduring live-action family films of its era.

This Special Edition Blu-ray features a new HD master from a 2K scan of the original film elements, along with newly recorded audio commentaries that revisit the making and legacy of this canine classic.
