The Complete Metropolis Blu-ray presents Fritz Lang’s legendary science fiction masterpiece in the definitive 2010 restoration, incorporating more than 25 minutes of newly discovered footage long believed lost.

Widely regarded as one of the most influential films ever made, Metropolis remains a towering achievement of silent cinema. Set in a futuristic city divided between wealthy industrialists and oppressed underground workers, the film follows Freder, the son of the city’s master, who discovers the harsh reality of the laborers who sustain the utopian surface world. As tensions rise between the ruling elite and the exploited workers, a mad scientist creates a robotic double of the workers’ spiritual leader, threatening to plunge the entire city into chaos.

This restoration restores Lang’s original narrative structure, integrating missing scenes and storylines to bring the director’s ambitious vision closer to its original form. Presented with Gottfried Huppertz’s 1927 score performed by the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin and mixed in 5.1 surround, the film’s groundbreaking visual design and revolutionary special effects are more striking than ever.
