Best known as Ogami Itto in the legendary Lone Wolf and Cub films, Wakayama showcases his comedic talents as the unconventional Buddhist monk Shinkai, whose devotion to justice often involves drinking, gambling and spectacular martial arts battles.
 
Shinkai is a rogue priest with a habit of solving problems through fists instead of sermons. Whether battling corrupt priests, confronting ruthless yakuza or defending innocent villagers, he repeatedly finds himself in outrageous adventures filled with explosive action, bawdy humour and memorable rivalries, including his long-running feud with the blind fighting monk Ryotatsu.
