Her search leads to a cursed videotape that dooms anyone who watches it to die within seven days — unless they can pass the curse to someone else. Blending ancient folklore with late-’90s technological anxieties, Ringu introduced the world to one of horror cinema’s most iconic figures and became a foundational work for modern supernatural genre filmmaking.
