Set largely within the isolated space of an attic bedroom and the endless pull of online culture, the film follows Casey, a teenager who becomes absorbed in a mysterious role-playing horror game.
 
As Casey begins documenting the physical and emotional changes she believes may be happening to her, the line between performance, loneliness and transformation becomes increasingly uncertain. Built around screen life, online identity and adolescent isolation, the film creates an eerie portrait of someone searching for connection through the strange rituals of the internet.
 
Unsettling, intimate and deeply modern, We're All Going to the World's Fair helped establish Schoenbrun as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary independent genre cinema.
