Sex and the Emperor Limited Edition Blu-ray is a lavish historical drama from director Sherman Wong that blends palace intrigue, political satire and dark comedy within the excesses of an imperial court. A notable entry in Hong Kong's Category III cinema, the film explores power, corruption and survival against the backdrop of royal decadence.
Li, a palace servant posing as a eunuch while secretly concealing his true identity, becomes an indispensable servant to the emperor. Drawn into the dangerous politics of the imperial court, he navigates shifting alliances, rivalries and covert missions while struggling to survive in a world dominated by manipulation, ambition and unchecked authority.
Directed by Sherman Wong, Sex and the Emperor offers a cynical portrait of hierarchy and corruption, combining historical spectacle with the distinctive style of 1990s Hong Kong genre filmmaking.
