Blood Reincarnation Blu-ray presents Tin Shan-Hsi’s 1974 Hong Kong horror anthology, newly scanned and restored in 4K from its 35mm interpositive. Violent, surreal and steeped in traditional Chinese ideas of the afterlife, the film moves through tales of ghosts, murder, vengeance and unfinished deeds that refuse to stay buried.
 
Across three stories, greed, betrayal and injustice open the door to supernatural punishment. In The Treasure, a search for buried riches leads to death and a possible haunting during childbirth. In The Wanton, a murder at sea returns through eerie water-bound vengeance. In Liu Tiansu, a wrongfully condemned doctor learns the blood reincarnation technique and returns from beyond the grave to seek justice.
 
Written and directed by prolific filmmaker Tin Shan-Hsi and featuring cinematography by Chris Chen Ching-Chu, Blood Reincarnation brings together a wide cast of classic Hong Kong performers, including Dean Shek, Lai Wang, Henry Yu Yang, Sha-Fei Ouyang, Yang Qun and Ting-Ken Shih. This Region A Blu-ray includes a new 4K restoration, commentary, a new film historian featurette and newly translated English subtitles.
