Reviver 4 Blu-ray presents a mystery-box archival release from Vinegar Syndrome’s Reviver sub-label, dedicated to lost films and missing movies found within the Vinegar Syndrome Film Archive. Programmed by VS archivist and vault manager Oscar Becher, each Reviver release uncovers archival curios scanned from their best-surviving film elements.

This fourth Reviver release centres on a long-lost independent feature made in the late 1970s by a filmmaker with a background in art, set design, painting, sculpting and graphic design. Shot over seven weeks in autumn 1977 and produced entirely out of pocket, the film never received a wide release despite its creator’s efforts to find a distributor who would preserve the film as intended.

Fiercely independent and newly rescued from obscurity, Reviver 4 presents this auteur-driven work newly scanned and restored in 4K from its 35mm original camera negative. Purchases of Reviver releases directly support the Vinegar Syndrome Film Archive, helping fund preservation supplies, improved storage and the continued search for lost films.
