Set within the miniature fascist republic established by Mussolini in Italy, the film adapts the writing of the Marquis de Sade into a devastating study of power, corruption and human degradation. Pasolini’s final film is difficult, provocative and deliberately distressing, but it remains a major cinematic milestone from one of the most controversial auteurs in film history.

Presented here in a new 4K restoration, Salo includes the original Italian-language version, an alternative English-language version, English subtitles and a substantial collection of Pasolini-related extras, including commentary, archival documentaries, short films, trailer and video material.
