After serving time in a Warsaw prison for a violent crime, 20-year-old Daniel is released and sent to a remote village to work as a manual labourer. During his incarceration, he has found religion and dreams of joining the clergy, but his criminal record makes seminary impossible.
 
When Daniel arrives in town, a quick lie leads the community to mistake him for their new priest. Though he has no formal training, his passion and charisma begin to inspire the villagers, even as his unconventional behaviour raises suspicion and draws him closer to a secret the community has kept buried.
