The Gambler 4K Ultra HD presents Karel Reisz’s landmark New Hollywood drama in its world UHD debut, newly restored and housed in an expansive limited edition MediaBook. James Caan delivers a career-defining performance as Axel Freed, a New York City professor spiralling under the weight of a devastating gambling addiction. Deep in debt to a mob-connected bookie and fleeing the consequences of his own self-destruction, Axel drags himself and those around him into a relentless cycle of risk, violence, and despair that refuses easy redemption.

Directed by Czech-born British filmmaker Karel Reisz, The Gambler stands as one of the most psychologically raw American films of the 1970s. Shot with striking on-location photography by Victor J. Kemper and edited with razor-sharp tension by future director Roger Spottiswoode, the film captures the moral exhaustion and volatility at the heart of the New Hollywood era. Cinématographe, Vinegar Syndrome’s canon-focused sub-label, presents the film in a definitive 4K restoration, accompanied by a deep slate of critical supplements and archival material.

This special limited edition 2-disc 4K UHD/Blu-ray set is housed in a cloth-bound MediaBook with an embossed foil title, custom disc trays, and a J-card slipcase designed by Vlad Rodriguez. The edition includes a 60-page booklet and is limited to 5,000 units.
