The Man In Black Limited Edition UK Import 4K Ultra HD presents Hammer’s classic supernatural thriller in a brand-new 4K restoration from the original film negatives. Adapted from the hugely popular wartime radio series Appointment with Fear, the film brought the chilling voice of Valentine Dyall’s mysterious storyteller to the big screen.
After the death of her father during a strange psychic experiment, Joan Clavering inherits the majority of his estate. But her fragile mental state soon makes her the target of manipulation by her vindictive stepmother, who begins a cruel campaign of gaslighting intended to drive Joan to madness and seize control of the inheritance.
An early example of Hammer’s darker storytelling and a key entry in their cycle of radio adaptations for cinema, The Man in Black blends psychological suspense with Gothic atmosphere, anchored by Valentine Dyall’s unforgettable presence.
