Skinheads Blu-ray marks the worldwide Blu-ray premiere of one of the most unexpected and powerful films from director Claudio Fragasso and screenwriter Rossella Drudi. Best known for their EuroCult genre excess, the duo pivot sharply here to deliver a raw, confrontational drama tackling extremism, alienation, and moral collapse in early-1990s Italy.
Marco is a directionless 22-year-old living at home, drifting through unemployment and petty stoner routines. His life begins to curdle when he falls in with a local neo-Nazi group, whose escalating violence against immigrants and minorities draws him deeper into hatred and self-destruction. As Marco develops a relationship with a young African woman, his private awakening collides violently with the ideology he’s embraced, forcing a reckoning that the film refuses to soften or moralize.
Featuring a striking lead performance by Gianmarco Tognazzi and strong supporting turns from Franca Bettoia and Flavio Bucci, Skinheads is a grim, unflinching shocker that sits closer to Made in Britain, Romper Stomper, and This Is England than anything else in Fragasso’s filmography. Severin Films presents the film newly scanned in 4K from the original camera negative, accompanied by an extensive documentary exploring its production, intent, and legacy.
