When Ferat Motors unveils a sleek, high-performance sports car, a trauma doctor begins to suspect the impossible: the vehicle is a living organism powered by human blood. As accidents mount and the truth edges closer to exposure, Herz constructs a chilling vision of state control, technological obsession, and bodily exploitation. Anchored by performances from Jiří Menzel and Dagmar Havlová, the film moves with clinical dread toward a conclusion as disturbing as it is prophetic.
 
Restored from the best surviving 35mm elements by Národní Filmový Archiv and Severin Films, Ferat Vampire arrives with over five hours of newly curated and archival supplements. Long unavailable in the U.S., this release finally positions Herz’s film alongside cult classics like Rabid and The Cremator as a defining work of late-Cold War genre cinema.
