As Charlotte tries to make sense of family, faith, first love and the changes happening around her, her relationship with her mother becomes increasingly complicated. With strong supporting turns from Bob Hoskins and Christina Ricci, Mermaids balances warmth, humour and emotional insight in a story about growing up and finding your own place within an unconventional family.
