Leonardo is a celebrated artist plagued by disturbing nightmares that leave him unable to complete his work. Encouraged by his agent and sometime lover Flavia to escape the pressures of the city, he purchases a secluded country villa and becomes increasingly obsessed with uncovering the story of its previous owner.

Part ghost story and part meditation on the creative process, A Quiet Place in the Country filters the excesses and anxieties of the late 1960s through Petri’s distinctive filmmaking.
