Based on one of the defining stories of 1960s British culture, the film stars Suzy Kendall as Polly, a wealthy young woman who rejects her privileged background for a different life in Clapham Junction.
 
Polly moves into a small flat, takes a job on a factory floor and begins forming new friendships and relationships outside the world she came from. But as her romantic idea of working-class life meets harsher reality, the film becomes a sharp portrait of class, independence and disillusionment.
