A kung-fu manual known as the Sunflower Sacred Scroll is stolen from the Emperor’s library, drawing a young swordsman and his fellow disciple into a struggle involving imperial forces, rival fighters and hidden power. Credited to King Hu and completed by Tsui Hark, Ching Siu-tung and Raymond Lee, the film stars Samuel Hui, Cecilia Yip, Jacky Cheung and Sharla Cheung.
 
Swordsman II (1992)
Also known as The Legend of the Swordsman, this action-packed sequel stars Jet Li, Brigitte Lin, Rosamund Kwan, Michelle Reis and returning performer Fennie Yuen. Produced by Tsui Hark and directed by Ching Siu-tung, the film follows Ling-Wu Chung as he is drawn back into danger after an attack on a tribe of women warriors.
 
Swordsman III: The East Is Red (1993)
