Uncommon Valor 4K Ultra HD delivers Ted Kotcheff’s hard-hitting Vietnam-era action drama in its most powerful and faithful presentation to date. Anchored by a commanding performance from Gene Hackman, the film blends gritty military realism with emotional urgency, capturing the unresolved wounds of a war that refused to end for those left behind.

Hackman stars as retired Marine Colonel Jason Rhodes, a father haunted by the fate of his son, listed as missing in action in Vietnam. After years of bureaucratic stonewalling and unanswered questions, Rhodes abandons official channels and assembles a small, elite team made up of his son’s former Marine comrades. With financial backing from a wealthy Texas oilman, the group undergoes brutal training before embarking on a dangerous, unsanctioned mission into Laos, where the line between rescue and suicide is razor thin.

Directed by Ted Kotcheff following his success with First Blood, Uncommon Valor combines explosive combat sequences with a somber examination of loyalty, grief, and unfinished duty. The film features an exceptional supporting cast including Patrick Swayze, Fred Ward, Tim Thomerson, Reb Brown, Randall “Tex” Cobb, and Harold Sylvester, each bringing authenticity and edge to the unit’s dynamics. More than a simple action film, Uncommon Valor reflects the lingering moral and emotional consequences of the Vietnam War through the lens of personal sacrifice.

This 4K Ultra HD edition restores the film from a new scan of the original 35mm camera negative, presenting Uncommon Valor with enhanced clarity, depth, and impact that fully honors its intensity and scale.
