In Scars of the Sun, a close-knit street gang begins to fracture when one of its members reconnects with his estranged brother, sparking tensions that threaten the group's traditions and loyalties. Blow the Night takes a more documentary-inspired approach, with former girl gang member Namie Takada portraying herself in a raw and uncompromising story of substance abuse, violence and survival on the margins of society.
 
Departing from the Roman Porno productions that initially established his reputation, Chusei Sone crafts two striking and socially conscious dramas that remain compelling snapshots of a changing Japan.
