Zen and Sword Blu-ray collects Toei’s acclaimed five-film Miyamoto Musashi saga, a sweeping samurai epic chronicling the life and legend of Japan’s most iconic swordsman.
Directed by Tomu Uchida across five films released between 1961 and 1965, this celebrated series follows Miyamoto Musashi from his origins after the Battle of Sekigahara through his evolution into a legendary samurai warrior. Along the way, Musashi faces rival swordsmen, wandering ronin and his destined adversary Kojiro Sasaki in a sprawling historical journey filled with honour, philosophy and sword combat.
Starring Japanese cinema legends Kinnosuke Nakamura and Ken Takakura, Zen and Sword stands alongside Zatoichi as one of the defining samurai sagas of 1960s Japanese cinema.
