Runaway Train 4K Ultra HD brings Andrei Konchalovsky’s relentless, snowbound thriller roaring back in a stunning new restoration that fully captures its raw physical intensity and emotional force. Featuring Academy Award–nominated performances by Jon Voight and Eric Roberts, the film is a brutal survival drama fueled by momentum, desperation, and moral reckoning.

Set against the frozen wilderness of Alaska, the story follows Manny, a hardened career criminal whose violent reputation masks a deep refusal to be broken. After escaping from a remote prison alongside the volatile young inmate Buck, the two stow away on a freight train bound for freedom. When the engineer suffers a fatal heart attack, the train becomes an unstoppable weapon, hurtling through the icy landscape with no brakes, no control, and no way off. Their situation grows even more complex when they encounter Sara, a railroad worker trapped aboard, whose will to survive rivals their own.

Directed with muscular precision by Andrei Konchalovsky and shot with stark, elemental beauty by cinematographer Alan Hume, Runaway Train blends action spectacle with existential drama. Based on a screenplay originally conceived by Akira Kurosawa, the film explores freedom, fatalism, and the thin line between instinct and humanity. Rebecca De Mornay delivers a powerful counterbalance to the film’s masculine fury, while the supporting cast—including John P. Ryan, T.K. Carter, and Kenneth McMillan—grounds the chaos in grim realism.

This 4K Ultra HD edition presents Runaway Train from a new scan of the original 35mm camera negative, delivering heightened clarity, contrast, and texture that intensify every moment of its relentless forward motion.
