Roy del Espacio Limited Slipcover Edition Blu-ray presents Héctor López Carmona’s 1983 Mexican animated sci-fi feature in a Deaf Crocodile release. Also known as Roy from Space, the film was completely lost for over 40 years and is recognized as only the third animated feature ever produced in Mexico.

Loosely inspired by classic 1930s space serials, Roy del Espacio follows its helmeted hero through a strange universe of robots, flying saucers, intergalactic danger and villainous schemes. Produced over three years with a mix of professional and non-professional animators, the film’s outsider animation style gives it a surreal, handmade energy unlike almost anything else in science fiction animation.

Newly scanned from the original 35mm negative and restored by Deaf Crocodile, Roy del Espacio also includes newly created replacement animation for footage that could not be legally retained. This limited slipcover edition includes commentary, visual essay, interviews, replacement animation featurette, booklet and limited edition slipcover.
