Intentionally stranded in space by his villainous boss, astronaut Earl Jensen survives for decades on a bizarre alien planet populated by living tongues, eyeballs, fingers, and amorphous pink creatures. Years later on Earth, his daughter Josie — now an astronomer navigating lust, love, and adulthood — finds her life and libido upended by her father’s impossible return and the resurgence of his former enemy’s schemes.
 
As outrageous as its imagery may be, Mutant Aliens is also unexpectedly tender, pairing Plympton’s grotesque visual humour with genuine emotion and nostalgia.
