Mutant Aliens Blu-ray marks the first-ever U.S. Blu-ray release of Bill Plympton’s wildly perverse and surprisingly heartfelt animated sci-fi epic. A lovably twisted tribute to classic alien invasion cinema, the film filters 1950s Americana, cosmic paranoia, and Plympton’s unmistakable hand-drawn style through an R-rated lens of sex, satire, and surreal invention.

Intentionally stranded in space by his villainous boss, astronaut Earl Jensen survives for decades on a bizarre alien planet populated by living tongues, eyeballs, fingers, and amorphous pink creatures. Years later on Earth, his daughter Josie — now an astronomer navigating lust, love, and adulthood — finds her life and libido upended by her father’s impossible return and the resurgence of his former enemy’s schemes.

As outrageous as its imagery may be, Mutant Aliens is also unexpectedly tender, pairing Plympton’s grotesque visual humour with genuine emotion and nostalgia. Its fascination with retro sci-fi tropes, erotic absurdity, and handmade animation places it firmly within Plympton’s most ambitious and imaginative work. Deaf Crocodile presents the film with a full slate of extras celebrating its creation, context, and enduring cult appeal.
