Hoffmaniada Deluxe Limited Edition Blu-ray presents Stanislav Sokolov’s visually breathtaking stop-motion fantasy masterpiece in a lavish collector’s edition packed with exclusive bonus content and essays.
Adapted from the fantastical writings of E.T.A. Hoffmann, Hoffmaniada weaves together elements from “The Sandman,” “The Golden Pot” and “Little Zaches Called Cinnabar” into a dreamlike gothic fantasy overflowing with clockwork automatons, witchcraft, magical creatures and surreal operatic imagery. As Hoffmann struggles through the monotony of his real-life work as a government clerk, his imagination pulls him into dazzling worlds of love, fire spirits and the mythical city of Atlantis.
Created with more than 150 handcrafted stop-motion puppets by legendary Russian animation studio Soyuzmultfilm, Hoffmaniada blends the dark fantasy atmosphere of The Nightmare Before Christmas with the theatrical grandeur of classical opera and European fairy tales. The result is one of the most ambitious and visually stunning stop-motion features ever produced.
