Directed by Aleksandr Ptushko, the visionary behind The Tale of Tsar Sultan and Sampo, Ilya Muromets is a landmark of Soviet fantasy cinema, renowned for its imaginative creature effects, vast battle sequences, and operatic sense of myth.
