Often known under its alternate title Angel of Vengeance, the film follows Thana, a mute seamstress whose life is violently shattered after a brutal assault. When a second attack pushes her past the point of survival, she retaliates, taking possession of a .45 calibre handgun and unleashing her trauma-fuelled fury on a city she now sees as irredeemably predatory.
 
Unflinching and deeply unsettling, Ms. 45 stands as one of the most provocative entries in the rape-revenge canon, elevated by Zoë Lund’s haunting, wordless performance and Ferrara’s grimy, street-level aesthetic.
