When a young torero confesses to violent crimes he did not commit, buried desires and dangerous obsessions begin to surface around him. A bullfighting teacher, a powerful lawyer, an actress and a psychiatrist are drawn into a strange web where attraction, death and performance become impossible to separate.
 
Inspired in part by King Vidor’s Duel in the Sun, Matador is a bold and confrontational work from Almodóvar’s 1980s period, pushing his fascination with passion, identity and transgression into thriller territory.
