After falling out with their only living relative, Seita tries to provide for himself and Setsuko by stealing food and sheltering in an abandoned bomb shelter. As supplies disappear and the world around them grows harsher, the siblings cling to brief moments of comfort, imagination and love.
 
Based on the personal accounts of survivor Akiyuki Nosaka, Grave of the Fireflies is one of the most powerful works in animated cinema.
