Creepozoids Blu-ray delivers one of the most infamous and beloved low-budget creature features of the 1980s, resurrected in a newly remastered edition from the original 35mm camera negative. Directed by cult maestro David DeCoteau and produced by Charles Band, this post-apocalyptic horror oddity blends shameless riffs on Alien and Mad Max with sleazy sci-fi excess and creature chaos that could only exist in the VHS era.
Set in a poisoned, rain-soaked future Los Angeles, Creepozoids follows five Army deserters fleeing a toxic wasteland in search of shelter. They take refuge in an abandoned military laboratory, only to discover that it once housed grotesque genetic experiments. As paranoia, lust, and desperation take hold, the group encounters mutant rats, a monstrous infant, and a towering, Giger-inspired creature that stalks the facility with lethal intent.
Featuring performances by scream queen Linnea Quigley and adult film star Ashlyn Gere (credited here as Kim McKamy), Creepozoids stands as a perfect snapshot of late-80s direct-to-video horror: cheap, nasty, imaginative, and proudly excessive. This Blu-ray debut restores the film’s grimy textures while upgrading the audio with a new 5.1 surround mix, giving this cult favourite its most complete home-video presentation to date.
