Three / Three... Extremes Blu-ray brings together two landmark pan-Asian horror anthologies in a lavishly restored limited edition that captures the genre’s early-2000s global breakout moment. Initiated by producer Peter Ho-Sun Chan, Three pioneered a cross-cultural approach to omnibus horror, later expanded and intensified with the uncompromising sequel Three... Extremes.
The original Three opens with Kim Jee-woon’s “Memories,” a haunting psychological puzzle about a couple unraveling the truth behind their shattered marriage. Thai filmmaker Nonzee Nimibutr follows with “The Wheel,” a tale of guilt and jealousy where a puppeteer suspects his marionettes are possessed by the spirits of the wronged. Peter Ho-Sun Chan closes with “Going Home,” a chilling ghost story centered on a widowed police officer and the unsettling secrets hidden within his new apartment building.
Three... Extremes pushes the concept further into darker territory. Fruit Chan’s infamous “Dumplings” explores obsession and bodily horror through a grotesque tale of rejuvenation at any cost. Park Chan-wook’s “Cut” stages a sadistic home-invasion morality play between a filmmaker and a resentful actor, while Takashi Miike’s “Box” delivers a dreamlike descent into childhood trauma and buried memory. Together, the two films form a defining showcase of modern Asian horror’s range, ambition, and willingness to disturb.
Arrow Video presents both films newly restored in 2K with an expansive collection of new and archival supplements, housed in a premium limited edition package designed for collectors.
