The Great Escape 4K Ultra HD brings John Sturges’ classic World War II epic to life with a new restoration and extensive archival and newly produced extras. Adapted from Paul Brickhill’s memoir, the film dramatizes the legendary Allied prisoner escape from the heavily guarded Stalag Luft III camp and remains one of the most beloved war films ever made.
 
Steve McQueen leads an all-star cast as the rebellious “Cooler King” Virgil Hilts, one of a multinational group of prisoners plotting an audacious breakout from the supposedly escape-proof Nazi prison camp. With the help of fellow inmates played by James Garner, Richard Attenborough, Charles Bronson and others, the men devise an elaborate plan to tunnel beneath the camp and reach freedom — if they can evade the relentless pursuit of their captors.
 
Directed by John Sturges and featuring stunning widescreen cinematography by Daniel L. Fapp and an iconic score by Elmer Bernstein, The Great Escape remains a thrilling testament to ingenuity, courage and camaraderie under impossible circumstances.
