The Dancing Hawk Blu-ray presents Grzegorz Królikiewicz’s striking 1977 drama in a limited edition release newly restored from original elements. Inspired in part by the structural ambition of Citizen Kane, the film traces the rise of a peasant’s son who ascends through post-war Polish society by embracing a new socialist order in the city. As ambition replaces tradition, the promise of progress reveals a deeper moral and psychological cost. With boldly unconventional compositions by cinematographer Zbigniew Rybczyński and immersive sound design, The Dancing Hawk offers a visceral portrait of identity, power, and the dislocation brought on by urbanization.
