When a break-in occurs at a secretive genetics institute, blind puzzle-maker Franco Arnò (Karl Malden) recalls overhearing an attempted blackmail involving one of its scientists. Teaming up with journalist Carlo Giordani (James Franciscus), Arnò begins investigating what initially appears to be corporate espionage. But as witnesses and suspects begin turning up dead, the pair find themselves entangled in a deadly conspiracy that places Arnò’s young niece Lori (Cinzia De Carolis) in grave danger.
