Song Of The Miraculous Hind 4K Ultra HD presents Marcell Jankovics’ visionary 2002 animated epic in its first-ever worldwide 4K UHD and Blu-ray release. A hypnotic journey through Hungarian myth, Ice Age cosmology, and spiritual history, the film stands as one of the most ambitious works in Jankovics’ career, alongside Son of the White Mare and The Tragedy of Man.

Structured as a four-part mythological odyssey, the film traces the origins of Hungarian identity through ancient Finno-Ugric legends, Siberian shamanism, Scythian symbolism, and medieval history. The narrative unfolds across millennia, from nomadic hunters stalking mammoths in a primordial snowstorm to the reign of Géza, Grand Prince of the Hungarians, who bridged pagan traditions and early Christianity. At its center is the mythical hind — a sacred guide, ancestral spirit, and cosmic force whose presence links the living, the dead, and the land itself.

Rendered in Jankovics’ signature kaleidoscopic style, the film overflows with cascading patterns, radiant animal forms, celestial transformations, and ritualized movement. Mythical deer, fire birds, forest spirits, and legendary figures Hunor and Magyar surge across the screen in an unbroken visual chant. With music by Levente Szörényi of the legendary Hungarian rock band Illés, Song Of The Miraculous Hind becomes both cinematic experience and spiritual invocation.

This release features a brand-new 4K restoration by Hungary’s National Film Institute – Film Archive, marking the definitive home-video presentation of this landmark of world animation.
