Plan 75 Blu-ray presents Chie Hayakawa’s acclaimed debut feature, a haunting and compassionate dystopian drama that examines aging, dignity and the quiet cruelty of bureaucratic systems. Premiering to international acclaim, the film offers a chilling yet deeply human look at a society grappling with an aging population.

In a near-future Japan, the government introduces the controversial “Plan 75” program, which encourages elderly citizens to voluntarily end their lives to ease economic and social pressures. The film follows three individuals whose lives intersect through the program: Michi, a 78-year-old woman struggling to survive after losing her job; Hiromu, a young salesman promoting the program with sincere belief in its purpose; and Maria, a Filipino caregiver who reluctantly takes a job with the initiative to support her daughter back home.

Through these intertwined stories, Plan 75 explores the emotional consequences of a system that quietly devalues human life, offering a poignant reflection on compassion, community and the meaning of living.
