Peter Hujar’s Day Blu-ray is Ira Sachs’s tender and intimate re-creation of a real-life 1974 conversation between photographer Peter Hujar and writer Linda Rosenkrantz. Set against a vanished New York art scene, the film unfolds as a leisurely, affectionate exchange in which Hujar (Ben Whishaw) recounts the events of his previous day, offering glimpses into both his creative process and the quiet rhythms of daily life.

With Rebecca Hall as Rosenkrantz, Sachs crafts a warm, witty cultural time capsule that becomes a meditation on friendship, presence, and artistic devotion. Subtle cinematic flourishes and the luminous chemistry between Whishaw and Hall give Peter Hujar’s Day Criterion Blu-ray its emotional depth and quiet radiance.

Criterion Premieres is a selection of new theatrical films presented on Blu-ray and DVD, released in association with the Criterion Channel.
