La tete contre les murs Limited Edition Blu-ray presents Georges Franju’s powerful and unsettling debut feature, newly restored in 4K and appearing on Blu-ray for the first time.

After repeatedly stealing from his wealthy father, the rebellious François (Jean-Pierre Mocky) is forcibly committed to a psychiatric institution. Branded a delinquent and arsonist, he finds himself trapped within a brutal system where patients are treated as little more than social outcasts. As he endures the dehumanizing routines of the asylum, François attempts to resist the cruel authority of Dr. Varmont (Pierre Brasseur) while forming fragile connections with the institution’s other residents.

Adapted by Mocky from Hervé Bazin’s controversial autobiographical novel, this furious and poetic early work from the director of Eyes Without a Face blends psychological drama with biting social critique. The film features an outstanding cast including Anouk Aimée (La Dolce Vita), Paul Meurisse (Diabolique), and Charles Aznavour as a long-time patient within the institution.
