After surviving a disaster at sea, Lieutenant Claude de Ross washes up on a remote tropical island alongside a group of escaped convicts. The island is home to strange amphibious creatures created by Professor Ernest Marvin, a disgraced biologist whose experiments are tied to a hidden city beneath the waves.
