After losing his Los Angeles pilot’s license, Billy Covington is recruited by Air America, a clandestine airline operating out of Laos under CIA control. He quickly discovers that the job involves far more than routine flights, as he is pulled into a world of secret cargo, risky missions and moral compromise.
 
Paired with the reckless and unpredictable Gene Ryack, Billy begins to question the operation and the people running it. Mixing action, comedy and political satire, Air America pairs Gibson and Downey Jr. in a high-flying adventure about corruption, loyalty and survival.
