A Poet LE Blu-ray is a sharp, bittersweet character study that examines artistic ambition, failure and the often uncomfortable gap between the life we imagine and the life we actually live. Winner of the Un Certain Regard Jury Prize, director Simón Mesa Soto's acclaimed feature balances humour and heartbreak to create an unforgettable portrait of a man searching for meaning amid self-inflicted chaos.

Oscar is a middle-aged writer whose dreams of literary greatness have long since faded. Unemployed, disillusioned and drifting through Medellín in a haze of frustration and alcohol, he spends his days lamenting both his own failures and the state of contemporary literature. When an opportunity arises to mentor a promising young student, Oscar sees a chance to reclaim a sense of purpose. Yet his tendency toward self-sabotage threatens to undermine even the most well-intentioned efforts.

Anchored by a remarkable performance from first-time actor Ubeimar Rios, A Poet blends dark comedy with genuine emotional insight. Simón Mesa Soto crafts a deeply human story about pride, redemption and the complicated pursuit of artistic validation, resulting in a film that is as funny as it is painfully honest.
