Spike Fumo dreams of becoming a successful boxer and escaping the disappointments that have defined his family's life. When he begins a romance with the daughter of local mob boss Baldo Cacetti, Spike finds himself on the wrong side of one of Brooklyn's most powerful figures. Banished from Bensonhurst and forced into unfamiliar territory, he must figure out how to rebuild his life while staying true to himself.
